About Dave Wood
Dave Wood is recognised world wide for his works which are breathtaking in their execution and in the visual pleasure they exude. He combines his 45 years of experience as a graphic designer, typographer and world class calligrapher to expand calligraphy into a new and exciting dimension.
Dave has been a pioneer in the promotion of calligraphy, originally holding the first ever solo exhibition of calligraphy in New Zealand in 1983. More recently in Australia Dave has continued to exhibit his work successfully in Galleries throughout Australia as well as overseas. Opening Australia’s first and only Calligraphy Gallery furthered his aim to have calligraphy recognised as an art form in its own right.
Dave enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge and experience both in the calligraphic field and the field of design for which he is highly respected. He has taught not only for many local Calligraphy Societies in Australia and New Zealand but overseas for many years now, both at Conferences and weekend workshops. He is even more available to teach worldwide now, given that he no longer has his Calligraphy Gallery. Most recently he has been invited to Summer Schools in Japan, Belgium and South Africa as well as teaching in the UK, Holland and USA. If your Society / Guild is interested in a workshop / summer school with Dave, please contact us.
